THE GUARDIAN

The keeper of the light

Held by Pina Varinawa, chief of the Varinawa clan and keeper of the sacred Uni — on the banks of the Juruá, the village opens its fire to those the forest is already calling.

Pina Varinawa is chief of the Varinawa clan, of the NOKE KOI people — the true people — whom the ancestors call the People of the Sun.

Born in the Amazon forest, in Acre, he carries the lineage of chants, prayers and medicines passed down through generations. He is the voice, the hand and the heart of a tradition that teaches how to live in balance with the earth, the spirits and the community.

Where Pina arrives, the forest arrives with him. His chants open paths. His silence heals. His presence reminds those who listen that the sacred was never far. It only waits to be found again.

To drink Uni is to enter the school of life: where one learns to love, to respect and to live in harmony.

A DIRECT LINE · WHATSAPP

He reads each message himself, in Portuguese. Clara translates from English or French when needed. Allow a few days; the forest sets the rhythm.

FIELD NOTE · PINA CARRIED THE WORD OF THE NOKE KOI TO PARIS

Pina Varinawa in full NOKE KOI regalia, speaking at the Global Sustainable Investment Forum in Paris, 2025.

I carried the forest with me to Paris, to speak of the climate, of the land that holds us, and of what our grandparents have always known. I did not go as a guest; I went as NOKE KOI.

THE MEDICINE

Uni · The medicine that weaves life

For the Varinawa, Uni is not a drink. It is a Teacher, a Grandmother, a Bridge: a living being that listens, teaches and heals.

It is the thread that weaves the community. The mirror that reveals, with love, what must be seen. The light that warms the heart and dissolves the cold of solitude.

The Teacher

Opens the doors to the world of spirits, ancestors and the wisdom of the forest.

The Grandmother

Heals the body, mends what is broken and returns peace to relationships.

The Bridge

Joins human and nature, "I" and "you", revealing that all is one Great Family.

Vari Teka Ancestral Festival

AUGUST 10–15 · 2026 · VARI TEKA VILLAGE · CRUZEIRO DO SUL, ACRE, BRAZIL

From August 10 to 15, 2026, Vari Teka Village opens its doors for a rare encounter with the peoples of the forest, the wisdom of generations and the living memory of the Amazon.

Six days of deep immersion: rituals, sacred chants, traditional medicine, ancestral art and a true reconnection with the Earth.

This is not an event. It is a passage.

A living experience for those who seek presence, deep listening and a reunion with the ancestry that pulses within each of us.

SIX DAYS

Six days · One passage

Rituals with the Uni medicine

Ceremonies led by Pina Varinawa and the village pajés, in the rhythm of the NOKE KOI tradition.

Sacred chants in circle

The voice of the ancestors. The bond of kinship that remains.

Traditional forest medicine

Baths, smudging, herbs, rapé and kambô. Always under the guidance of the village guardians.

Ancestral art and body painting

Graphic patterns that carry stories, protection and identity.

Connection with the Earth

Walks in the forest, river baths, the listening of a silence that heals.

Living reciprocity

Real exchange between those who arrive and the community. The sacred law of giving and receiving.

THE CALL

For those who answer the call

For those who seek presence. For those who long for deep listening. For those who feel the call of the forest. For those who wish to learn from the source. No intermediaries, no performance.

This experience is for artists, therapists, seekers, creators, leaders and human beings who understand one simple truth: ancestral knowledge is not bought. It is honored.

THE TERRITORY

Vari Teka Village · Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre

View of Vari Teka Village by the Juruá river, Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre.

On the living frontier of the Amazon, where the Juruá river still sings its original song, stands Vari Teka Village, home of the Varinawa people, a territory guarded for generations.

Here, time keeps another rhythm. The forest sets the calendar. The fire organizes the night. The songs open the day.

Welcoming visitors is part of the tradition. Every visit is an exchange that strengthens the village, the culture and the forest.

CARE

To welcome well begins with care

Uni and the medicines of the forest are sacred and call for respect. Before your arrival, we speak carefully about your health, your intentions and your preparation. This is a passage led by those who have kept the tradition for generations. Care is part of the path from the very first conversation.
